AMHERST, Mass. - Following successful weekends on the ice and the pitch, UMass hockey forward Dennis Kravchenko and women's soccer defender Rebekka Sverrisdottir have been named the Dinn Brothers Student-Athletes of the Week by the UMass Sports Luncheon committee. The pair will be honored at the weekly UMass Sports Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 21 beginning at Noon in the Jim & Ellen Hunt Hospitality Room of the Football Performance Center.

For Kravchenko, this is his second honor of the week as he was named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday. Last Friday, Kravchenko helped the Minutemen to a 5-2 win in their home opener by netting a hat trick and adding an assist for his second four-point effort of the season. The hat trick was the first of his career, while his four points tied a career single game high.

The Laguna Niguel, Calif., currently leads the nation in scoring with eight points on four goals and four assists.

He shares the weekly UMass honor with Sverrisdottir who helped the women's soccer team to a pair of Atlantic 10 wins at Rudd Field last week. The Minutewomen defeated Davidson, 4-0, and Rhode Island, 4-2, improving to fifth in the A-10 standings heading into the final two weeks of the regular-season.

The Reykjavik, Iceland, native tallied a goal and helped anchor a shutout over Davidson. In the win over Davidson, she scored UMass' second goal of the match heading home a corner kick near the end of the first half that put the Minutewomen up 2-0. She played the full 90 minutes helping limit the Wildcats to just four shots in the shutout win. On Sunday, despite the Rams scoring two fluky goals, she again helped the defense play strongly allowing just seven shots and giving up no corner chance opportunities in 90 minutes of action.

This week's featured speakers at the UMass Sports Luncheon are Head Football Coach Mark Whipple and UMass Marching Band Director Tim Anderson. Anderson will be on hand to give a preview of this Saturday's Band Day at Gillette Stadium which is an annual fan favorite event at UMass football games.

Free parking is available in Lots 10, 11, and 12, located adjacent to the Football Performance Center. A buffet lunch will be served for $14 per person.
