UMass Rowing Reveals 2014-15 Competitive Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts rowing program and head coach Jim Dietz announced the team's 2014-15 schedule on Tuesday morning, highlighted by continued participation in the Head of the Charles, Knecht Cup and Dad Vail Regatta. The Minutewomen will also look to defend their conference title with the Atlantic 10 Championships on May 4, 2015.
UMass starts the fall season with its third consecutive appearance in the Head of the Oklahoma on Oct. 4-5. The squad returns East to participate in the Head of the Housatonic in Derby, Connecticut, on Oct. 11 and the Seven Sisters Sculling Regatta in Hadley, Massachusetts, on Oct. 12.
The Head of the Charles, hosted in Boston, will be on Oct. 18-19 while the Head of the Fish follows on Oct. 25. The Minutewomen split up for the following weekend when the novice rowers head to Dartmouth, New Hampshire, for the Green Monster Regatta and other members of the squad trek to Mercer, New Jersey, for the Collegiate Small Boat Challenge to close the fall slate.
Massachusetts starts up its 2015 spring season with a head-to-head event against Coast Guard in Hadley, on March 21. After they face Coast Guard, the Minutewomen travel to Camden, New Jersey, for the Knecht Cup on April 11-12. UConn makes the trip to Hadley to continue its regional rivalry with UMass on April 17 while a tri-meet with MIT and Bates in Boston on April 18 serves as the precursor to the Atlantic 10 Championships.
After UMass finishes up it's A-10 Championship slate it heads to the Dad Vail Regatta on May 8-9 for the final regular season competition. The 2015 edition of the NCAA Championships will be held in Sacramento, California, from May 29-31. To participate, the Minutewomen need to secure a berth through a first place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
