AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's soccer has announced that seniors Lauren Skesavage and Grace Coombs have been named the squad's captains for the 2013 season. Skesavage will serve in the role for a second year as the defender was first selected as a co-captain of the Minutewomen as a junior in 2012.

Skesavage played in 19 of UMass' 20 matches last season and helped lead a defensive corps that logged six shutouts on the year. Over her career, she has appeared in 59 of a possible 60 matches heading into her final collegiate campaign and has totaled six points on one goal and four assists.

Coombs, who is entering her third year with the Minutewomen, was one of five players to start in all of UMass' 20 games in 2012 and ranked second on the team in scoring with eight points on two goals and four assists. She has 10 points (3g, 4a) thus far in her career in Amherst over 38 matches.

The Minutewomen will open their 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 23, at Siena in Loudonville, N.Y., at 4 p.m.
