Streitfield Begins Competition At The Maccabiah Games

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass rowing senior Michaela Streitfield is set to participate in the 2013 Maccabiah Games, beginning on Wed., July 17. Streitfield is one of only four collegiate rowers invited to take part in the event, which is held every four years.
Streitfield is the first competitor at the Maccabiah Games from the UMass rowing squad. The senior from Fort Belvoir, Va., took home 2013 Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference honors after helping the Varsity 8+ boat register strong performances throughout the spring season. Streitfield was also a leader for the Minutewomen during the fall, taking gold medals in the single scull and quad at the Head of the Oklahoma and gold in the double and quad at the Head of the Fish.
This year marks the 19th holding of the Maccabiah Games, which is an international competition for Jewish Athletes that takes place in Israel.
