TORONTO - UMass women's basketball alumni Alisha Tatham and Tamara Tatham will compete for the Canadian Women's National Team as the squad gears up for the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, which will be held from Aug. 30 - Sept. 11. The Tatham sisters have been competing together for Team Canada's senior level program since the 2010 FIBA World Championships, including appearances at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Canada will tour Europe throughout the summer months to prepare for competition in the upcoming Americas Championship, kicking off the season against the Czech Republic on May 28-29. Four additional friendly tournaments are scheduled currently, including stops in Serbia (May 31 - June 2), France (June 7-9), China (July 5-12) and Brazil (August 15-18).

Canadian National Team head coach Lisa Thomaidis, in her first year with the squad, invited 29 athletes to participate in the summer tour. The FIBA Americas Championship will be held in Mexico and serves as a qualifying event for the 2014 FIBA World Championship to be played in Turkey.
