ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A 32-yard interception return for a touchdown by Christian Birt and a pair of field goals by Brendon Levengood highlighted UMass' scoring in a 63-13 loss at No. 17 Michigan on Saturday afternoon. Denard Robinson showed why he was one of the most prolific players in college football with 291 yards passing and 106 yards rushing with four total touchdowns. The game was a homecoming of sorts for UMass tailback Michael Cox who rushed for a season-high 76 yards against his former teammates. Cox played four years at Michigan before enrolling in graduate school at UMass.

Along with Cox's performance, Mike Wegzyn led the offense going 14-of-29 for 141 yards. Receivers Alan Williams and Deion Walker each had season-best performances. Williams had a career-high six catches for 38 yards, while Walker had four catches for a team-best 63 yards.

Fitzgerald Toussaint rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns in leading Michigan's run game behind Robinson. Drew Dileo had 3 catches for 91 yards to lead the Wolverines wide receivers.

Michigan jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to a 26 yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Devin Funchess and an 11-yard run by Fitzgerald Toussaint.

The Minutemen punted on their first two possessions but were able get momentum going late in the quarter. Facing 3rd and 11 at the UMass 35 yard line, Wegzyn picked up a key first down with a 16-yard run. Cox followed that up with a 14-yard run getting UMass to the Michigan 49-yard line.

Wegzyn then hit Sharpe along the right sideline for a 22-yard pick-up to the Michigan 13 yard line. The drive fizzled after a holding penalty, however, and Brendan Levengood converted a 25-yard field goal with 13:44 left in the second quarter.

The Wolverines responded with a two-play 39-second drive that consisted of a 66-yard Robinson pass to Drew Dileo to set-up a five-yard touchdown run from Vincent Smtih putting Michigan back up 21-3.

After UMass punted on its next possession, Michigan took over at its own 12-yard line. After a four-yard run, Robinson threw an interception to Christian Birt who jumped the route and returned the pick for a touchdown with 9:49 left in the half.

Robinson added two more touchdowns for Michigan in the half with a 42-yard pass to Devin Gardner and a 36-yard keeper putting the Wolverines up 35-10 with 4:00 remaining.

Levengood hit his second field goal of the half with a 32-yarder to cap a 57 yard drive making the score 42-13. The drive was highlighted by a 33-yard pass from Wegzyn to Deion Walker which carried UMass to the Michigan 15-yard line.

Michigan put together one last scoring drive in the half going 83 yards in nine plays. Robinson hit four-of-five passes to start the drive combined with a UMass personal foul put the Wolverines in the red zone with just under a minute left in the half. A 16-yard run by Robinson advanced the ball to the two-yard line. UMass stuffed Toussaint on the next play and forced Robinson to fumble on a quarterback sweep to the left. Robinson's fumble, however, was recovered by left tackle Taylor Lewan for the touchdown making it 42-13 at the intermission.

Robinson picked up where he left off to start the third quarter hitting Roy Roundtree for an 18-yard touchdown. Vinent Smith added his second rushing touchdown of the day in the third quarter as Michigan went into the fourth leading 56-13.
