Gordon Named UMass Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass women's soccer junior goalkeeper Stephanie Gordon has been named the UMass Athlete of the Week, it was announced this afternoon. Gordon will be honored at the first UMass Sports Luncheon of the 2011-12 school year this Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 12:15 p.m. in the Campus Center.

Last Tuesday, Aug. 23, Gordon helped the Minutewomen win a season opener for the first time since 2007, making nine saves and backstopping the squad to a 2-1 victory at New Hampshire. The match was Gordon's first in nearly two years, as the Northeastern transfer was just two shy of her career high in saves.

UMass will open its home slate tomorrow on Rudd Field, facing Fairfield at 4 p.m.
