AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's swim team wrapped up Friday evening in fourth place with 168 points behind Yale (288), Boston College (210) and Boston University (173). The women sit in fifth place with 99 behind Columbia (235), Yale (182), Northeastern (168) and Boston University (121).
The men started the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of Colin Mulcahy, Eric Zeimetz, John Conway and Peter Sacco touched the wall with a time of 1:24.79.
Joey Sbordon had the top finish for the Minutemen on the night finishing in second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:32.01.
The men had two other top-five finishes on the day by Chris Inglis in the 500 free (4:35.76) and Michael Glenn in the 200 IM (1:53.75).
The women kicked things off with the 200 free relay team of Amina Meho, Hannah Markey, Anna Cavanaugh and Zoe Judd finishing in third with a time of 1:35.74.
The only other top-five finishes on the night for the Minutewomen were Meho and Judd in the 50 free with times of 23.73 and 23.80, respectively.
From the Galbraith Invitational at Rutgers University, Alexander Merkulov was able to win the one-meter event with a score of 274.20. He also placed second in the three-meter with a 282.40.
Michaela Butler was also able to win the one-meter with a score of 279.80, and come in third in the three-meter (272.20).
