AMHERST, Mass. - After scoring a pair of power play goals in Saturday's win over UMass Lowell, freshman blueliner Adam Phillips has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday. In addition to his two goals on Saturday, Phillips took just one penalty and helped the power play unit convert 3 of 6 chances for the two win weekend.

For Phillips, this is second Rookie of the Week honor after he also picked up the accolade on Nov. 29 after scoring three goals in a pair of games against Vermont and Quinnipiac.

The native of Farmington Hills, Mich., Phillips has played in all 19 games this year with 6 goals and 3 assists. Four of his goals have been on the power play, while two served as game-winning goals. He ranks 6th on the team in overall points and is the second leading scorer among defensemen.

In Hockey East, Phillips is tied for 12th in Rookie Scoring and tied for 11th in defenseman scoring.

The Minutemen will face Vermont for a pair of weekend games this Friday and Saturday at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington. The Minutemen moved up to 7th-place in the Hockey East standings after a four-point weekend against UMass Lowell. Vermont split a home-and-home weekend with Northeastern and remains in 9th-place heading into the weekend series.
