SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Senior Megan Zullo poured in a career-high 25 points, but Seton Hall managed to rally in the final minutes to top UMass, 61-58 in women's basketball action at Walsh Gymnasium on Sunday evening. The Minutewomen (0-4) posted their best shooting performance of the season thus far, including a 52.6% (10-for-19) clip from beyond the arc in the loss to the Pirates (2-2).

Zullo's second career 20-point game was aided by a 4-for-6 showing from three-point range, 9-for-16 overall, to go along with three assists. Sophomore Shakia Robinson grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds and also added five points and three steals. Senior Cerie Mosgrove finished with eight points, while junior Emilie Teuscher and senior Stephanie Lawrence contributed seven points apiece.

Brittany Morris notched the first six points of the game, helping Seton Hall to a 10-2 lead 4:30 into the contest. Following a pair of free throws by Jasmine Crew, Mosgrove drained a three to spark a 12-0 run for UMass that gave the Minutewomen a 14-10 advantage at the 10:54 mark. Teusher later pushed the lead to double figures, hitting a jumper at 6:29 that brought the score to 24-14. However, 10 points from Kandice Green allowed the Pirates to pull within three heading into halftime, 29-26.

UMass came out of the break by scoring the first five points of the second half to stretch their advantage back out to seven. After chipping away at its deficit, Seton Hall finally pulled back in front, 44-43, with a basket by Ka-Deidre Simmons with 9:33 on the clock.

The two teams traded the lead several times over the next five minutes of play, with Robinson sinking a layup at 4:12 to tie the score at 52. Jazzmine Johnson promptly responded with a three to put the Pirates back on top on the next possession, while Whitney Wood moved the advantage to six with a free throw and then a jumper at 1:58. Zullo sunk all three of her free throws with 1:25 to go to make it a three-point game and hit a trey with five seconds remaining, but Crew converted three-of-four free throw attempts in the final minute to preserve the win for Seton Hall.

Though the Minutewomen shot 48.9% from the field to the Pirates' 34.4%, Seton Hall finished with just one less field goal than UMass, making 21-of-61, while the Minutewomen shot 22-for-45. The Pirates had more than twice the opportunities at the free throw line, going 13-for-20 (65.0%), compared to 4-for-9 (44.4%) for UMass.
