Rowing Completes Competition At Head Of The Charles

BOSTON - The UMass rowing team completed competition at the 46th annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Sunday. The Minutewomen were entered into four events, including the Veteran Masters Single, raced by Head Coach Jim Dietz. Massachusetts will be back on the Charles River later in the season for the Foot of the Charles on November 13, and will travel to Saratoga, N.Y. next weekend for the Head of the Fish.
Coach Dietz, racing as part of the All-American Rowing Camp, got things rolling for UMass in his 9 AM race Sunday morning. Dietz finished in 16th place with split times of 11:10.370 and 16:45.178 before crossing the finish at 21:04.291. Junior Emily Boucher had the best finish of the day for the Minutewomen in the Lightweight Singles, placing seventh out of 20 entries with an official time of 20:22.396.
In the afternoon session, the Massachusetts Four completed its race in 12th place with a time of 18:54.854, finishing eight spots ahead of Atlantic 10 rival Fordham (20:42.221).
The UMass Lightweight 8+ capped off the day for the Minutewomen with a ninth place finish (17:44.182) against the likes of Wisconsin, Princeton and Stanford.
