Hockey Receiving Votes In USCHO Poll

AMHERST, Mass. - - The UMass men's hockey team will enter the 2009-10 season as one of the top Receiving Votes teams in the USCHO preseason top-20 poll. The Minutemen are listed as the sixth team to receive votes (17). Overall, eight of the 10 Hockey East schools were listed in the first poll of the season with Boston University, defending National Champions, ranked second.

The Mass Attack will begin the season this Thursday against RPI and will then take on defending national champion and second ranked Boston University on October 16th.

Hockey East was well represented in the poll. Following Boston University, UMass Lowell begins the season ranked No. 11 followed by Boston College at No. 12. Closing up Hockey East in the top 20 are Vermont at 14, New Hampshire at 16 and Northeastern at 20. Following UMass in the receiving vote category is Maine with one vote.

Overall, UMass will face ten teams who received votes in the preseason poll. UMass will travel to # 8 Yale (11/19) and to Quinnipiac (11/28), who is listed in the receiving votes as well.
