UMass Finishes Strong At Head Of The Fish

SARATOGA, N.Y. - The UMass rowing team had a strong effort at last weekend's Head of the Fish in Saratoga, N.Y. The Minutewomen took the top four spots in the singles race, led by Julia Richter's first place finish. As a team, Massachusetts had five first place finishers. UMass will have a weekend off before traveling to Hanover, N.H. on November 7 for the Dartmouth Novice Head.
Richter finished her singles race with a time of 14:32.73 and was closely followed by Emily Boucher, who placed second (15:14.32). The two other UMass singles entries finished just under two minutes behind Richter. The Minutewomen entered two boats in the women's four placed third and fifth in their race with a time of 15:01.79 and 15:45.14, respectively.
In the double, Massachusetts finished fifth, sixth, and seventh, while the lightweight four placed first with a time of 15:17.54. In the varsity eight, the Minutewomen rowed to a third place finish (12:41.32), while the JV8 also placed third (13:16.85).
