Joey Sbordon Grabs A-10 Weekly Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass swimming and diving freshman Joey Sbordon (Franklin, Mass.) earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors after his performances this weekend against Boston College and Colgate. This is the fourth time he has earned this A-10 Award. Sbordon's personal-best time of 9:38.62 in the 1,000-yard freestyle earned him a first place finish against Boston College on Jan. 24. Against Colgate, Sbordon finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 4:41.22 and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.72
Overall, the Minutemen routed the Eagles in a 184-104 win at home Saturday. The squad then went on to dominate Colgate 188-95 on Senior Day. This season, Sbordon has marked 18 individual wins.
The Minutemen return to action Saturday, Jan. 31 in the Bronx to take on the Fordham Rams.
