Amherst, Mass. - After the week of competition at the Paralympics in Beijing, UMass senior swimmer Michael Prout continued to excel at the games. Since his 100 freestyle performance last Monday, Prout has competed in nine more events over the week.

Monday morning Prout and his Paralympic teammates took first in the first heat of the 4x100 medley and will wait until later Monday night to compete in the finals of the event.

Over the weekend Prout took seventh in the finals of both the 50m freestyle and the 400m freestyle and placed eighth in the 100m backstroke. The West Springfield, Mass., native notched his best individual finals finish of the Games so far in the midst of last week's competition as he placed sixth in the 200m IM. Prout also helped his team to another sixth place finish as they competed in the 4x100 medley relay.

Prout and his Paralympic teammates will finish up at the National Aquatics Center when they compete in the finals of the 4x100 medley relay this evening. The games finish up Wednesday, September 17, with closing ceremonies, but fans can still watch and stay updated with Prout's performances by visiting Universalsports.com and the Paralympics site, usparalympics.org for results and video.
