Nick Serino Named A-10 Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman left-handed pitcher Nick Serino (Saugus, Mass.) was honored as the A-10 Rookie of the Week after earning his second career win against George Washington yesterday. Serino, now 2-1 this season, pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings and struck out seven batters in UMass' 4-0 win. After facing 24 batters, Serino scattered five hits, all of which were singles.
Serino, a 2007 graduate of Malden Catholic High School, was named a Catholic Conference All-Star as a junior and senior and compiled a career mark of 22-6 with 254 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA.
Serino is the first Minuteman to be honored by the A-10 this season. The win against George Washington brings the Minutemen to 8-11 and 3-6 in the A-10.
