Sanders Named UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Bailey Sanders (Durham, Conn.) was named the UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week. This past weekend, Sanders helped the UMass softball team go 3-1 at the USF Under Armour Classic pitching a no-hit shutout win over Rutgers.
Sanders was terrific in an 8-0 romp of Rutgers Sunday, as the junior pitcher struck out two batters holding the Scarlet Knights hitless for the first time this season en route to her first-career no-hitter. On Monday, Sanders was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week for her gem of a performance. The Minutewomen, who sit at 10-11 on the season, will head to the Bronx Thursday for a double-header against Fordham to open up A-10 Conference play. The first game will start at 12 p.m. EST, with the second starting shortly after.
Sanders will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this Wednesday. The luncheon will begin at Noon and will be held in the Campus Center in room 1009. Speakers will include Women's Lacrosse Coach Alexis Venechanos & Men's Basketball Coach Travis Ford (tenative).
