Women's Soccer Recognized By NSCAA For Academic Excellence

AMHERST, Mass. - A total of 315 soccer teams (81 men, 234 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2006 season, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2005-06 academic year. The UMass women's soccer team was among those teams honored, compiling a 3.39 cumulative GPA under Head Coach Jim Rudy for the academic year.
Individually, goalkeeper Kristin Walker and forward Britt Canfield were previously honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Walker was named a third team scholar athlete for the Northeast Region, while Canfield was an NSCAA Northeast Region third team honoree.
