AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts baseball (12-27, 9-13 A-10) dropped Saturday's conference game to Saint Joesph's (17-34, 9-13 A-10) by the score of 13-1. The Hawks' bats came alive in the outing with 16 hits, while UMass was limited to four hits on the day with three errors. The series continues Sunday at Earl Lorden Field at Noon.
Saint Joseph's earned multiple runs in the third, fourth and sixth, including seven in the sixth en route to the win. Tim Smith, Matt Godusky, Ben Wendle and Mike Blahusch each recorded two RBI for the Hawks, while Blahusch, Godusky, Chris Cashman and Jereme Scott had two runs each.
Bryan Adamski had the lone RBI for the Minutemen, bringing in Adam Tempesta in the fourth. Adamski and Tempesta were responsible for two hits on the day for UMass, with Tempesta getting his team-leading 15th double of his rookie season.
Chris Lloyd was charged with the loss for Massachusetts, falling to 0-5 on the season. Jason Hessler improves to 4-7 for Saint Joseph's.
