AMHERST, Mass. - UMass junior Britt Canfield has been selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a all-Northeast Region third-team honoree for the 2006 season. This is the first such award for the Granville, Mass. native.

Canfield ended the 2006 season with a team-high seven goals and three assists, good enough for 17 points, which also paced the Minutewomen. This marks the third-consecutive year that Canfield has paced her team in scoring, while her three gamewinners also led the squad last season. Previous accolades for Canfield include All-Atlantic 10 rookie team and All-A-10 Second Team in 2004.

The NSCAA administers an outstanding awards and recognition program which includes Coach of the Year, All-America, long-term service and special recognition awards designed to recognize excellence in soccer, academics and service to the game. Included is the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award presented in intercollegiate soccer. The NSCAA's Division I members serve as the official voting body for the Hermann Trophy. Regional and national rankings also are conducted for high school and college programs. In all, nearly 10,000 individual awards are presented by the NSCAA each year. These awards and recognition are available only to NSCAA member coaches and their players.
