DAYTON - Massachusetts' first goal in more than six games came 2:17 into overtime and gave the Minutemen a 1-0 victory at Dayton Friday.

The Flyers (4-6-0, 0-2-0) stopped Bryan Hogan in front of the UD net, but he wheeled and found a streaking Mark DeSantis 10 yards out. Desantis won a one-on-one battle with UD goalie Nick Tarkany to send the Flyers to their third straight loss.

Dayton had eight shots on goal and UMass (7-4-2, 1-2-0) had seven in the first 90 minutes. UMass had two shots get past Tarkany before overtime, but Flyer defenders were there to knock away the ball. UD had two shots go wide of the net in the final three minutes of regulation.

The Flyers return to action at 1 p.m. Sunday when they face Rhode Island, which entered the weekend tied for first place in the Atlantic 10, at Baujan Field. UMass plays at 1 p.m. Sunday at Xavier.
