Minutewomen To Take Part In UConn Classic

AMHERST, Mass. - After a week-long break, the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team (2-1) will travel to Storrs, Conn. to take on No. 19 UConn on Friday at 7 p.m. You can follow the action via livestats on the Connecticut website.
The Minutewomen enter the contest with two wins under their belts, including last Friday's 3-0 blanking of Marist at Rudd Field. Lindsey Bellini, Nadia Villarroel and Britt Canfield notched goals for UMass, while Kristin Walker earned her sixth career shutout (second of the season).
Currently, Villarroel (2-0-4), Canfield (1-2-4) and Vanessa Patry (1-2-4) lead the Minutewomen in scoring.
The Huskies are 2-2 this season, dropping their season opener to Penn State (1-2) before taking the next two vs. Hofstra (3-0) and Maryland (2-1 OT). UConn was most recently shutout 5-0 on Sept. 4 vs. No. 11 Florida.
Kristi Lefebvre and Meghan Schnur lead Connecticut scoring with a goal and two assist each. Megan Jessee and Stephanie Labbe each have a win and a loss in goal.
On Sunday, the Minutewomen will face St. John's in the 11:30 a.m. game in Storrs. The Red Storm are also 2-2 on the season, with wins over Bucknell and Quinnipiac, and losses against Yale and Marist. Both losses came in overtime.
