AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts fell to 6-7-1 overall, 3-2-1 Atlantic 10 after Sunday afternoon's 1-0 loss to A-10 newcomer Saint Louis (11-3-0, 6-0 A-10). The game closes out the home season for the Minutewomen, who were 5-4-0 at Rudd Field this season.
The gamewinning goal came at 69:16 off a corner kick by Courtney Hulcer. The kick went to Caroline Sweeney, who beat Kristin Walker from five yards out.
Overall in the match, shots were 13-4 in favor of the Billikens. Corner kicks were 6-1 for the visiting team, while UMass was called for 11 fouls, Saint Louis for seven.
Prior to the game, the six UMass seniors were honored for their four years of collegiate soccer. Between them, they played in over 300 games. Goalkeeper Kristen Rutland, who has been injured the last two seasons, opened the game with a ceremonial shot as a forward.
The Atlantic 10 season continues on the road for UMass, which faces George Washington and La Salle next week. They close out the regular season the next weekend at Charlotte and Richmond.
