Frimpong-Boateng Earns Another Honor

LONG BEACH, Calif. - University of Massachusetts senior Kwesi Frimpong-Boateng (Accra, Ghana) has been named to the 2003-2004 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America first team for the sports of men's cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. This marks the second straight season Frimpong-Boateng has been honored by CoSIDA, as he was a second team Academic All America selection in 2002-2003.
Frimpong-Boateng ended his career as Massachusetts' record holder in three events: the 55-meter dash (6.30 seconds), the 100-meter dash (10.30 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (20.90 seconds). He was a five-time Atlantic 10 Conference champion, most recently earning gold at the 2004 Atlantic 10 indoor track and field championship in the 55-meter dash (6.36 seconds). He also captured first place in the 55-meter dash at the 2004 IC4A indoor championship (6.31 seconds).
Frimpong-Boateng posted an undergraduate grade point average of 3.56 and a 4.00 graduate school grade point average in microbiology. He earned his undergraduate degree from UMass in May of 2003, and competed as a graduate student during the 2003-2004 school year. The 2003-2004 Atlantic 10 Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year and UMass Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, Frimpong-Boateng was a four-time Atlantic 10 Student Athlete of the Year selection (men's indoor track in 2002, 2003 and 2004; men's outdoor track in 2004).
