AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team fell to Central Connecticut State, 1-0, at Rudd Field Wednesday afternoon. The Minutewomen were held scoreless for the third time in as many games, en route to their third straight loss.

Central Connecticut scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute of play, by Jen Frisch. Her teammate, Jessica McCavanagh had her shot blocked, and the rebound was collected by Denise Thomas. Thomas then passed it to Frisch, who hit the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.

Senior goalkeeper Kelly Nigh (Seattle, Wash.) made eight saves in the loss, while Sabrina Mariani made four stops for the Blue Devils. CCSU out-shot the Minutewomen, 14-9, while holding the edge in corner kicks as well, at 7-1.

The loss brings UMass to 2-3-1 on the year, while Central Connecticut improves to 7-1-0.

UMass will be in action next on Sunday, Sept. 28, when they take on Binghamton at Rudd Field. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
