CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Boston College this afternoon, snapping the Minutewomen's win streak at four.
In doubles, the No. tandem of senior Helena Horak (Westlake Village, Calif.) and sophomore Susan Hyams (Cincinnati, Ohio) beat Ruta Veitas and Nida Waseem, 8-5. Massachusetts lost the other two matches, however, and dropped the point. The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Jafra Depontes (Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii) and freshman Stephanie Price (Columbia, Mo.) lost for the first time in their last ten matches.
In singles, Price was the only Minutewoman to record a victory as she downed Waseem, 7-6 (6), 0-6, 10-5.
UMass will host Quinnipiac in a 3:00 p.m. match on Monday, April 15, at the Upper Boyden Courts. Horak, UMass' lone senior, will be recognized prior to the start of the match as she will be playing in her final home match. This will be the final regular season match for the Minutewomen before the 2001 Verizon Atlantic 10 Championship kicks-off April 19, in College Park, Md.
