PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
Senior Katelyn Jones (Round Lake, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute to lift the University of Massachusetts to a 1-0 victory over La Salle in women's soccer action this afternoon.
The lone goal of the game came off a rebound from sophomore Michelle Luttati (Westford, Mass.). Junior Martha Conover (Liverpool, N.Y.) set up the free kick and fed Luttati who placed a shot on goal. The shot was deflected by La Salle goaltender Kaitlin Glass. Jones collected the rebound and capatilized to lead the Minutewomen to a 1-0 victory.
Senior goaltender Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) had five saves in the victory for UMass, while La Salle's goaltender Kaitlin Glass made two saves in the losing effort.
The Minutewomen return to action Friday, Oct. 12, when they take on St. Bonaventure at Totman Field. The game is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
