RICHMOND, Va. -
The University of Massachusetts fell to Richmond, 2-0, this evening in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action.
The Spiders opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the first half when Luara Gincel scored off a feed from Jenna Merriam. In the second half, Richmond extended its lead to 2-0, when Jessie Marino chipped the ball over UMass goaltender Julie Podharsky (Dallas, Texas) from 15 yards out. Molly Rettig assisted on the goal.
The victory improves Richmond to 7-7-1 overall and 6-2 in the A-10, while the loss drops UMass to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in A-10.
The Minutewomen return to action Sunday, Oct. 28, when they take on George Washington at 1:00 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
