PHILADELPHIA - The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team defeated Temple, 2-0, this afternoon in Philadelphia. The victory improves the Minutewomen to 10-2 overall and 7-0 in the Altantic 10 conference.
Freshman Carly Turman (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) scored the game-winning goal with 1:19 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Michelle Luttati (Westford, Mass.) and junior Alexi Rudd (Orinda, Calif.) were credited with the assist. Turman's goal was her third this season, bringing her season point total to seven.
UMass extended it's lead when Freshman Erica Wideberg (Randolph, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal early in the second half. The goal marked the first of her collegiate career and brought her season point total to four.
UMass senior goaltender Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) had 10 saves in the game for UMass, while Temple's goaltender Jackie Mauro made 11 saves in the losing cause.
The Minutewomen return to action Friday, Oct. 26, when they take on Richmond at 7:00 p.m. in Richmond, Va.
