Lilly Honored by Atlantic 10

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior field hockey player Anke Bruemmer (Koeln, Germany) was selected Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, while freshman women's soccer player Erin Lilly (Clifton Park, N.Y.) earned A-10 Newcomer of the Week honors as announced today.

Bruemmer, who plays back, has led the Minutewomen to a 2-1 record, posting three goals and one assist for seven points off 14 shots in the opening week of play. Bruemmer scored one goal and assisted on another in a 7-0 win over Colgate (Aug. 30) and went on to score two more goals in a 3-1 win over New Hampshire (Sept. 2). Bruemmer has led the Minutewomen in scoring the last two years and was named to the All-America second team in 1999.

Lilly, a forward, scored a team-leading three goals to help lead UMass past Albany, 9-0, last Saturday night (Sept. 2). Lilly leads the team in goals (3) and points (6) as the Minutewomen have complied a 2-1 record.
