Cambridge, mass. -- The 9th ranked University of Massachusetts field hockey team defeated Harvard University 1-0 in double overtime Wednesday night at Jordan Field. The Minutewomen improved to 7-2 on the year, while Harvard fell to 5-2.
Patty Robinson (Norwood, Mass.) goal at 93:54 was the winner in UMass' first overtime game of the year.
"It was a strong individual effort on Patty's part," said head coach Patty Shea. "She anticipated the play and made things happen."
Senior Zowie Tucker (Neath, South Wales) made three saves, en route to her fourth shutout of the year. Tucker lowered her goals against average to 0.77 on the season. Katie Zacarian, of Amherst, Mass., made 19 saves for Harvard.
The Minutewomen return to action Saturday, Sept. 30, 1:00 p.m., as they host No. 7 University of Connecticut at Garber Field.
