TEMPE, Ariz. - A goal by Temryss Lane 27:55 into the game turned out to be all 18th-ranked Arizona State (9-0) needed as it shutout UMass (4-5) 2-0 late Sunday night.
Stacey Tullock scored the final goal of the game, with less than five minutes to go in regulation, for the Sun Devils, who outshot UMass 16-3.
UMass junior goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) tied her career high in saves with nine, making eight of them in the second half.
UMass returns to conference play Friday, Sept. 29, with a game at St. Bonaventure at 3:00 p.m. The Minutewomen wrap up their six-game road trip with a 1:00 p.m. game at Duquesne Sunday, Oct. 1.
