Mink Leads Women's Soccer To A 2-1 Win

TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman midfielder Amy Mink (West Chester, Ohio) scored with 2:30 left in the game to give UMass (4-4) a 2-1 win over San Diego State (2-7) late Friday night. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Minutewomen who, despite the win, were outshot 15-9. .
Senior forward Kara Ciocca (Wilbraham, Mass.) got UMass on the board first, scoring off a cross by junior forward Brooke Bartlett (Clifton Park, N.Y.) 11:02 into the game. San Diego State's Jane Specht tied it up before halftime, scoring on a SDSU corner at 39:03.
UMass junior goalkeeper Julie Podhrasky (Dallas, Texas) allowed the one Aztec goal and recorded one save in the first half. Freshman keeper Kelly Nigh (Seattle, Wash.) held San Diego State scoreless and made three saves in the second half for the Minutewomen.
UMass plays No. 18 Arizona State, Sunday, Sept. 24, at 9:00 p.m. EST.
