AMHERST, Mass. - Anna Morozuk (Croton Falls, N.Y.) had a goal and two assists to lead UMass (3-2) to a 6-0 win over Long Island (0-6) in the final game of the UMass Women's Soccer Classic Sunday afternoon. Georgia (5-1) beat Fairfield (0-4-2),3-1, in the first game of the day.
Kara Green (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) opened up the scoring for the Minutewomen 5:32 into the game with a goal off a cross from Brooke Bartlett (Clifton Park, N.Y.). The goal gave Green her 101st career point and moved her into a tie for second among UMass' all-time points leaders.
Kat Machamer (Highland Ranch, Colo.) scored UMass' second goal, from Kara Ciocca (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Alexi Rudd (Orinda, Calif.), 29:14 later. Ciocca then gave the Minutewomen a 3-0 lead, scoring off a corner kick from Janelle Khouri (Calgary, Alberta) and Morozuk at 61:51.
Erin Lilly (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) scored next for the Minutewomen, off a rebound shot from Morozuk, at 71:51 and Amy Mink (West Chester, Ohio) followed that up three minutes later with her first collegiate goal off a cross from Kristin Mena (North Grafton, Mass.). Morozuk scored the final goal of the game at 80:08 off a pass from Andrea Trujillo (Englewood, Colo.).
Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Nigh (Seattle, Wash.) recorded two saves in her first start for UMass while Long Island's keeper Mary Jaeger recorded six saves in the game.
UMass hits the road Wednesday, Sept. 13, for a 7:00 p.m. game at No. 6 Connecticut and continues its road trip with a game at Rhode Island Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:00 p.m.
