Megan McHugh begins her third season on Jim Dietz's University of Massachusetts rowing staff as an assistant coach in 2017-18.

McHugh's role as an assistant coach has her working primarily with the novice rowers, or athletes who have been competitive in some way in high school, but are walking onto the rowing team and going through the try-out process at the beginning of the fall season.

The Minutewomen captured the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship team title and advanced to the NCAA Championships during McHugh's second season back at her alma mater. Massachusetts outpaced the A-10 field in the Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ races for the league championship.

McHugh began her coaching career immediately after completing her collegiate rowing days with UMass in 2011. McHugh started coaching masters rowers before transitioning to work with high school athletes, and then ultimately college athletes. She began coaching college athletes as a graduate assistant at UMass in 2013.

McHugh rowed for the University of Massachusetts from 2007-11 as a member of the Varsity 8+, helping the Minutewomen win two Atlantic 10 Championships during her tenure.
