University of Massachusetts tennis head coach Juancarlos Nunez announced the hiring of Anastasia Rychagova as an assistant coach on Nov. 8, 2019. Rychagova joined Nunez and the Massachusetts tennis program following a stellar career as an all-American competitor on the University of Kansas Jayhawks tennis team.

“I am excited to welcome Anastasia into our family,” Nunez said. “Her track record on the court speaks for itself. It is clear how passionate and committed she is to helping out student-athletes be the best they can be on and off the court. Passion is a big part of our program and Anastasia embodies that.”

Rychagova concluded her four-year tenure as a standout at Kansas in 2018-19 as a first team all-American, the ITA Central Player of the Year and All-Big 12 First Team in singles and doubles. She led the Jayhawks to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen while she simultaneously advanced to the NCAA Individual Championships Round of 16.

“I'm thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to work with head coach Juancarlos Nunez and the UMass tennis team,” Rychagova said. “I believe in his vision of the game and can't wait to start helping the girls to become the best that they can be on and off the court.”

Rychagova ranked as high as No. 1 in singles and No. 12 in doubles nationally during her Jayhawks tenure. She was lauded for her work on the court and in the classroom throughout each of her four seasons, during which Kansas won 74 matches – including 30 against Big 12 opponents – and made three team NCAA Tournament appearances. She won All-Big 12 First Team in each of her seasons and was a perennial inclusion on the Academic All-Big 12 honor roll and University of Kansas Dean’s List.

Prior to her arrival at Kansas, Rychagova ranked as high as No. 60 in the ITF Junior World Rankings. Her juniors championships included singles titles at the Grade 4 T52 Cup Junior ITF (2011), Grade 5 Almetievsk Open Junior ITF (2012), the Grade 5 Almetievsk Open Junior ITF (2012) and Grade 3 Almetievsk Open Junior (2013).

Rychagova graduated from Kansas with her bachelor’s degree in economics in 2019.
