Pierce on UMass: "I chose UMass because I am a big believer in trusting your gut. There were the obvious factors for choosing UMass, of course, such as the vast array of academic opportunities, the large company that has an amazing culture by virtue of a diverse student body, and the incredible dining halls. However, these are components that most academic institutions can promise for a collegiate experience. When it came down to it, I really gravitated towards UMass because of the intrinsic sentiment of feeling settled and comfortable. Everyone was extremely welcoming, and I laughed easily amongst people who could have treated me as a stranger. Everyone I met was incredibly kind. That unsolicited hospitality coupled with the competitive but supportive environment made me want to jump right into the UMass experience."

Before UMass: Competed with CRI and was guided by Skye Eliot ... Captained her team ... Turned in a 10th place effort in the Women's Youth Coxed Quad at the Head of the Charles ... Intends to study sociology and psychology.

Personal: Daughter of Julie Onos ... Has one sibling, Nandi ... Enjoys writing in her spare time ... Was born in New Haven, Connecticut ... Interested in psychology and sociology as academic majors.
