Colón on UMass: "I spoke with college coaches and visited several schools, but from the time I took my first call with a UMass coach I knew it was the right school for me. Every interaction I have had since then confirmed it for me. The academic community is truly inspiring--raising its ceiling every day students step in the classroom. The athletic community is strong and unshakable. The coaches are passionate and committed and the student-athletes are dedicated. I know that being part of the UMass rowing team means being all in, and that's what I was looking for. It felt right. The team's energy inspires me to do great things!"
Before UMass: Colón's Spring 2018 was highlighted by multiple top finishes with The Stewards Foundation under coaches Tom Feaster and Steve White ... At the Plant Invitational Spring Sprints she was part of a third place Varsity 8 boat while also winning the 2x and taking third in the 1x ... Also in Spring 2018 at the Mayor's Cup, Colón's V8 took first in addition to a third place 1x performance ... Intends to pursue psychology as an academic concentration.
Personal: Daughter of Christopher Colón and Andréa Tullo-Searle ... Stepdaughter of Thomas Searle and Amanda Colón ... Has three siblings, Grace, Isabella and Malena ... Was born in Belleair, Florida ... Enjoys horseback riding ... Intends to pursue psychology as an academic concentration.
