Clayton Kirven was promoted to the role of University of Massachusetts Sports Performance Coach prior to the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year. In his new position, Kirven is responsible for the growth of the ice hockey and tennis programs. He will continue to assist Director of Sports Performance Joe Connolly and the football program as well.
Kirven arrived at the University of Massachusetts in Sept., 2016Â as strength and conditioning intern. During his first year with the athletic department, Kirven worked primarily with the football and women's basketball programs.

Previously, Kirven was an intern at the University of Wyoming, the University of Denver and the University of South Dakota.

While lettering on the football team, Kirven received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health promotion at the University of Wyoming and his master’s degree in health and human development at Montana State University.
