Alexandra DiMatteo returned to her alma mater and recently completed her first season as an assistant coach on the University of Massachusetts rowing program staff in 2014-15.

In DiMatteo's first campaign as a coach the Minutewomen added a banner year to the program's records. UMass secured its second consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship with victories in the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+, which guaranteed the Maroon and White a spot in the 2015 NCAA Championships field. Two weeks after the successful A-10 title defense, the Minutewomen returned to the Dad Vail Regatta and won the women's team title as the squad swept the Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ grand finales. The program went on to make its second straight appearance in the NCAA Championships, hosted in Gold River, Calif., where the Minutewomen finished 20th as a team.

Prior to her return to Amherst, DiMatteo guided the Duxbury Bay Maritime School rowing crew team while she has also traveled across the U.S. coaching with All-American Rowing.

A four-year member of the University of Massachusetts rowing team, the Duxbury, Mass., native was twice named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second team as a member of the Varsity 8+. In her four years, she finished first with the Second Varsity 8+ in the 2008 A-10 Championships and picked up second place finishes as part of the Varsity 8+ vs. Buffalo and Cornell among other top placements.

She began her competitive rowing career at Duxbury High School, a program she would later coach for two years. In high school, DiMatteo helped Duxbury to bronze medal finishes at the Massachusetts State Championships during her junior and senior campaigns.
