2018-19 – Redshirt Freshman: After being sidelined with an injury in 2017-18, appeared in all 32 games, starting in 31 contests ... Averaged 19.4 minutes, 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds each night ... Helped the Minutewomen to a win over Sacred Heart (11/6) in her collegiate debut, shooting 5-of-6 from the field with three rebounds, finishing with 11 points ... Had 10 points, seven boards and three assists in the win over Central Connecticut (11/17) ... Put down a season-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting at Brown (11/24) an assist and five rebounds ... Tallied eight points and six boards in a win at Marist (12/29) to cap the non-conference schedule … Recorded seven points and five rebounds in a win vs. conference rival Rhode Island (2/10) ... Had eight points, four boards and a helper in the Atlantic 10 First Round at George Mason (3/5) as the Minutewomen won a double-overtime thriller and advanced to the A-10 Quarterfinals for the first time since 2005.
2017-18 – Freshman: Redshirted the season following an injury suffered during the preseason.
Before UMass: At Anatolian High School played for Baris Akgün and was twice named a top five player in the Turkey Under 16 Anadolu Championship … Helped lead Anatolian to a first place finish in the Istanbul Region and to a Under 18 Turkey School Championship … Member of the Turkish National Team … Played in the Under 16 European Star Girls' Championship in the summer of 2016 averaging of 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds … Intends to major in Pre-Med.
Coach Verdi on Soysal:
"Anil brings a tremendous amount of size and has a ton of experience after playing on the Turkish National Team. She is a threat in low post and at 6-foot-5 is long with good capability of defending. Anil is also good in transition with the ability to run the floor and score in transition."
