Balbino joined the UMass men's soccer program as an assistant coach in 2014 as a member of Fran O'Leary's first coaching staff with the Minutemen before transitioning to the Director of Soccer Operations role prior to the 2019 campaign.
Prior to coaching at UMass, Balbino served as the head coach at American International College for 17 years. He first arrived at AIC in 1996 as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach in 1997. Under Balbino's direction, AIC advanced as one of the premier programs in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Balbino graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Westfield State University, and also holds a NSCAA Advance National Diploma.
Balbino and his wife Renee live in Ludlow, Mass., with their three children Miranda, Marissa and Mateo.
