AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer head coach Fran O'Leary announced Friday that Shane Ebanks has joined the program as an assistant coach. Ebanks joins the Minutemen following a stint as an assistant coach with the men's soccer team at College of the Holy Cross.
"We are delighted to welcome Shane to our staff," said O'Leary. "He is a bright, well respected young coach who will positively impact our program."
While with the Holy Cross men's soccer program, Ebanks oversaw individual and small-group player development sessions, alongside athletic trainers and performance staff. He led segments of scouting opponents and helped with the preparation for matches, and contributed to national recruiting and lead local recruiting efforts through player identification, evaluation and relationship-based communication with prospects.
Prior to his time with Holy Cross, Ebanks was an assistant coach at Emmanuel College, a Division III institution, from 2021 through 2024. He aided the Saints to winning records in three of his four years on the staff, with Emmanuel advancing to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference semifinals twice. He also competed for two seasons at Endicott College, serving as a team captain. There, he earned DVC All-Star honors and aided the team to a CCC Conference Championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance, while becoming State Semifinalists and a New England Finalist.
Ebanks graduated from Bridgewater State with his bachelor's degree in accounting and finance in 2021.
