Tagliente on Hamstra: 'Emma joins us from the most storied field hockey program in the state of Michigan in Pioneer High School. She is an outstanding athlete with tremendous character. Emma has good basic fundamentals and a strong work ethic that will both lend themselves into her developing as an outstanding collegiate goalkeeper.' Before UMass:
Played at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan for Coach Jane Nixon. Over the course of her three-year varsity career, her team went 47-4-3, won the State Championship in 2008 and 2009, and finished runner-up in Michigan in 2010. She was named to Ann Arbor All-City in 2008 and 2009 for her combined record of 28-4-3, an 83 percent save mark, and 18 shutouts. She ended her senior year with a 13-3-2 record, allowing just 11 total goals and posted eight shutouts, including two in postseason play, where she stopped 88 percent of the shots she faced. She was also the goalie for her high school[apos]s varsity lacrosse team in 2009 and 2010 and was named All-City in 2010.
