Gonzalez[apos]s U.S. National Team Bio
Melissa Gonzalez, a 2011 graduate of the University of Connecticut, joined the UMass field hockey program as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2014 season. Gonzalez brings a wealth of experience and success from the collegiate and international play fields to Amherst as she has played for Team USA since her graduation from UConn. Gonzalez was a three-time NFHCA All-American for the Huskies and was twice picked as the Big East Defensive Player of the Year (2009-10).
Gonzalez, a native of Mohegan Lake, N.Y., was a part of the U.S. team that participated in the 2012 Olympic Games while she has also earned caps at the Pan American Games (2011), Champions Challenge I (2011-12, [apos]14), Four Nations Tournament (2013), World League Round Two (2013) and Robobank Hockey World Cup (2014).
