Fredette, who transferred to UMass from Vermont after the Catamounts[apos] baseball program was discontinued in 2009, played two seasons with the Minutemen for a total of 92 games with 92 starts. As a junior in 2010, he led UMass with a .384 batting average, going 71-for-185 to post the 10th-highest hits total for a single season in program history. Following that stellar campaign that saw Fredette total 31 RBI, 32 runs scored and 11 doubles, he was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second team and earned the team[apos]s E. Joseph Thompson Most Valuable Player Award.
As a senior, Fredette served as a team captain in 2010 and started all 47 games. He finished his two seasons with the Minutemen with a .320 career batting average, with 46 RBI and 55 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple and four home runs.
