AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team will hold a canned food drive in conjunction with the team's home season finale against Rhode Island on Saturday, Nov. 9. Game time is at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free.

The drive is being run by the Outreach Committee of the SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) and is the first event in which SAAC will have the canned food drive. The drive will run until Nov. 26 and will be available for fans at all UMass home events until that time. Boxes will be set up around the entrances to Rudd Field and fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or clothing. Big Y supermarkets, in front of Boyden Building and the Southwest Dining Commons will also provide boxes for any items. All proceeds will go to the Amherst Survival Center.

Saturday's game will feature two of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference. UMass, which has clinched at least a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season title, is ranked third in the NSCAA / adidas New England Regional rankings and ranked 28th in the country in the College Soccer News top 30 poll.The Minutemen are 12-4-2 overall and 8-0-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Rhode Island is 11-8-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
