Goaltender Ethan Eskit Rounds Out Incoming Class For Massachusetts Hockey

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added six-foot, 190-pound left catch goaltender Eithan Eskit to the roster for the 2026-27 season. The Calgary, Alberta native rounds out the incoming group of 12 newcomers for the Minutemen, joining forwards Egor Barabanov, Gavin Cornforth, Max Curran, Jasper Kuhta, Maxim Massé, John McNelis and Melvin Novotny, defensemen Samu Alalauri, Barrett Dexheimer and Mathieu Taillefer and goaltender Tobias Trejbal.

"Ethan comes to UMass as a veteran of more than 100 games in the Western Hockey League. His strong skating ability, lateral quickness, and high compete level are evident every time he takes the ice.  Ethan is a person of outstanding character and will be an excellent addition to our goaltending unit."

Eskit played three-plus seasons in the Western Hockey League for the Brandon Wheat Kings (2022-25) and the Victoria Royals (2025-26), appearing in 106 regular season games and logging a 44-38-14 record with a 3.22 goals against average, an .897 save percentage and three shutouts. In five postseason appearances he went 1-1-0 with a 2.90 GAA and a .934 save percentage.

This past season with Victoria, Eskit played a career best 53 games and registered a 2.99 GAA and a .904 save percentage with one shutout.

Prior to his time in the WHL, Eskit was the Canadian Sport School League (CSSHL) U18 Top Goaltender in 2022-23 and led the league in save percentage (.941) as a member of Yale Hockey Academy.
