#62 Massachusetts Tennis Drops 4-1 Decision To #75 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 62- ranked University of Massachusetts tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 75 nationally-ranked Harvard on Saturday morning at the Murr Center.
Harvard earned the doubles point with wins at courts No. 1 and No. 2. The Crimson's Kavya Karra and Anna-Raphael Serghi defeated Fiona Ao and Ella Faessler, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles, before Clair Shao and Kate Kim of Harvard took down Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye, 6-4, at court No. 2.
Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich defeated Harvard's Natalie Block and Natasha Rajaram at No. 3 doubles, 6-3.
In singles competition, Karra of Harvard won 6-3, 6-3, over Faessler at the No. 1 slot, before Harvard's Shao downed Tye, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 2 position. With Harvard leading 3-0, Pavissich picked up the Minutewomen's lone point with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Serghi of the Crimson at court No. 3. The match concluded with a Crimson's Kim taking down Ao, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
Courts No. 5 and No. 6 went unfinished with Harvard leading.
Massachusetts welcomes New Haven to the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center in Amherst, Massachusettson Sunday, March 8, for a 12 p.m. match.
