Tennis Falls To Dartmouth, 4-2

HANOVER, N.H. – University of Massachusetts tennis fell to Dartmouth College, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center. UMass moved to 7-2 overall on the season.
 
Dartmouth grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 1. Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich won over Lauren Han and Caroline Lemcke of Dartmouth, 6-2, at court No. 3, but  Dartmouth's Josephine Lombardi and Alexandra Orlins defeated Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye, 6-2, at court No. 2 to tie up the doubles match. Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore of Dartmouth earned a 7-5 triumph over partners Ella Faessler and Renata Farima at the No. 1 position to secure the doubles point for the Big Green.
 
During singles play, Dartmouth's Orlins downed Tye, 6-2, 6-2, at court No. 2, before Pavissich took down Han of Dartmouth, 6-2, 7-6(5) at No. 3 to grab the first point for Massachusetts. Dartmouth took a 3-1 lead as Lemcke won 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 5 slot over Markevica. Ao won the second point for the Minutewomen, topping Dartmouth's Lombardi, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. In a close match, Dartmouth was able to clinch the point as Audrey Feng defeated Farima, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 at court No. 6.
 
The match at court No. 1 went unfinished as Moore of Dartmouth led 5-7, 7-6(4), 5-3 over Faessler.
 
Massachusetts continues on the road, facing in-state rival Harvard on Saturday, March 7, at 11:30 a.m. The Minutewomen then return to Amherst on Sunday, March 8 to take on New Haven at 12 p.m.
